About the scheme
What is ECO4?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a government scheme run by Ofgem. It requires large energy suppliers to pay for energy-saving improvements in the homes of households on lower incomes.
Because the energy suppliers fund the work, eligible households don't pay for the agreed measures. There's nothing to repay and no loan.
The works must also improve your home's energy rating by a set amount. Our free survey checks this for you.
Funding is limited. ECO4 closes on 31 December 2026 and many energy suppliers have already used their funding. We'll tell you honestly if we can't fund your home.

Common questions
Is the insulation really free?
Yes, if you're eligible and funding is available for your home. ECO4 fully funds the agreed works, so you won't pay for them. We confirm everything in writing before any work starts.
Who pays for ECO4?
Large energy suppliers fund ECO4 under a government obligation. The scheme is run by Ofgem.
Are you a government body?
No. We are H&R Energy Solutions Ltd, a private accredited installer. We help eligible households apply for ECO4 funding and carry out the work.
When does ECO4 end?
ECO4 closes on 31 December 2026. Funding is limited and many suppliers have stopped taking new applications, so we can't guarantee funding for every home. Apply early to give yourself the best chance.
Do I need to know my EPC rating?
No. We check your home's energy rating during the free survey.
Can private tenants apply?
Yes, if someone in the home receives a qualifying benefit, your landlord gives permission and the home is rated EPC E, F or G.
What if I don't receive a qualifying benefit?
To apply through us, someone in your household needs to receive a qualifying benefit. Your local council may know about other support in your area.
How long does installation take?
It depends on your home and the measures recommended. We'll give you a timescale after your survey.
